The Brooklyn Nets got defeated for the second time in just three nights, as the back court duo of a young and rejuvenated Cleveland Cavaliers in Collin Sexton and Darius Garland, now universally dubbed “Sexland,” combined for 39 points as they helped take down the NBA’s newest super team in the Nets. …
It’s deja vu for the 43-year old quarterback from Michigan.
Tom Brady is used to silencing his never-ending relentless amount of critics, and tonight was no different as Brady helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dismantle Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in a narrow 26–31 win. Brady is now headed to the tenth Super Bowl in his illustrious career, and is looking to capture ring number seven, the only difference that this time Brady won’t be celebrating the title in Foxborough if they are able to win.
Brady started a new chapter without Bill Belichick in Tampa Bay, the head coach whom Brady has thrived under his entire career and won six Super Bowls with. Brady is now playing under Bruce Arians, and after Arians was quoted as saying “I let Brady coach sometimes”, it’s clear that Brady has a little more freedom to run the offense than he did in New England. There were multiple points throughout the season when Brady’s experience came in handy and his veteran leadership was on full display. …
Last year was an unceremonious shrink into the shadows for the New York Knicks when the eight teams who had no chance of making the playoffs were excluded from Orlando, which seemed like a fitting end for yet another horrendous New York Knicks team.
For a team so rich with basketball history, it seems like the last couple of years the world has just had the Knicks’ number, and they’ve been the punching bag of the NBA for quite some time now. Knicks fans have been tortured for years now watching their team fail miserably and come up short over and over again, as head coaches come and go and chances to contend disappear. …
The NBA season is here, and with it, the debuts of the highly touted rookies.
Even though this 2020 class is considered to be among one of the weaker years in terms of talent, there are plenty of rookies who are ready to show they belong in the NBA and can carve out lengthy careers. It’s too early to quite predict the future of their careers, but some rookies already stand out among their peers.
A rare feature about this year’s class is that so far no rook has been given the keys to the offense, something that’s become a staple of the draft in recent years for at least one or two franchises. …
At one point or another, whether or not we’d like to admit it, we’ve all been stuck in the place where nobody wants to be when they are trying to be with someone. It’s the ultimate no man’s land, and once you’ve been sucked into it it’s extremely difficult to get out of it, if not impossible. It’s a harsh wake-up call, but sometimes it’s a necessary reminder that life doesn’t always go as planned and we just have to adapt.
The Friend Zone.
It’s the gray area that everyone’s been in during their life at one point or another, the person we were chasing or are chasing drawing a strict boundary that separates you and them. When you try to get close with this person, you’ll immediately get shut down and be cast off into the Friend Zone, the place where people shooting for relationships who get shut down are all too familiar with. …
He’s back. Officially this time.
Okay, well maybe not all the way, but you get the point.
Last night, Jeremy Lin confirmed that he signed a contract with the Golden State Warriors G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, and the Warriors actually received the mandate needed to sign him from the CBA. Ever since the Warriors failed at their first attempt to bring Lin back to the Bay Area, the rumors heated up quickly about his potential return to the NBA with the team he started off his career with way back in 2010.
The last time we saw Lin on an NBA court, it was tragic. Lin watched, not even in uniform, as the Toronto Raptors put the final touches on their 2019 NBA title. Unaware of how off-track things would go, it was heartbreaking to watch Lin celebrate finally coming out on top after all the years he spent at the bottom, a feature piece for rebuilding teams or teams who could never quite make it past the hump in the playoffs. After the conclusion of the season, Lin went to NBA champion to out of the league in a matter of months. …
There’s a great saying that describes the story of Alex Smith perfectly.
Legends never die.
At this point in his career, it’s obvious that Smith will never be enshrined in Canton in the Naismith Hall Of Fame. However, even though his legacy won’t include a pit stop at the Hall Of Fame, it certainly doesn’t discredit the amount of perseverance Smith has had to muster up on his incredible road to recovery or throw a blanket over the accomplishments he had already accumulated before his horrific injury.
Before Smith stepped onto the NFL field against the Los Angeles Rams for what felt like the first time in decades, he received the shocking news that the surgery that was done on his leg had caused it to become infected, and there was a chance it was life-threatening. …
Almost every NBA fan would love to see all 60 prospects live up to their hype in the NBA and succeed while reaching their full potential. Unfortunately, the NBA is a harsh business, and its not one that everybody can survive in. Thus, there are multiple overachievers and underachievers every year.
Enter Josh Jackson.
He was the 4th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, and there was plenty of buzz going around that Jackson could possibly be the steal of the draft. Expectations for the 6'8 combo guard-forward were high heading into the draft, and his draft day comparison was a hybrid of Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler. …
Man, this Christian Wood guy is really good.
A lot of NBA fans and people in general don’t know who Christian Wood is, but after the 31-point explosion he had for Houston in his debut for the Rockets to go along with 13 points and 3 assists, they need to learn his name.
For some Detroit Pistons fans, they’ve known that Christian Wood was capable of putting up great numbers before quarantine even started. …
Eighteen months ago, Kevin Durant backed into Serge Ibaka, attempted to drive into the paint to take one of his signature mid-range pull-up jumpers, but instead came up limping.
Basketball fans everywhere saw the injury (later revealed to be a torn Achilles tendon), and everyone immediately knew that Kevin Durant would not be playing basketball for a long time.
After 18 strenuous months, the Slim Reaper is back. And not only is he back, but he looks just like his old self — something that no one expected, except maybe Durant himself.
Considering all of the following factors, from the fact that Durant was already in his early thirties, to the fact that he was a 7-footer, and after adding in the context of not playing an NBA game in 18 months, it was fair to assume that Durant would look like a shell of his former self, or at least would show a little rust coming out of the gate this season. …
